John JakemanAKA The Rock
2010
John is a very welcome addition to the squad whenever he is available. He commands a position high up the order and can normally be relied on for runs. He scores quickly once set and will hit very powerful drives and pull shots to any slightly loose ball. In the field John offers a very safe pair of hands and a strong arm, he is also full of 'advice' for the opposition batsman when needed. If thrown the ball John will bowl a very nagging line and length that can prove difficult to score from.
John has recently accepted a job in Dundee, which will likely mean he'll be late most weekends from now on. However, he deserves our best wishes in his new job and hopefully in the future we will see much more of him on the cricket pitch!
Wikipedia has also provided me with a few nuggets of information I was previously unaware of, John won the Mens Handicap 100m in the Sydney Athletics meet in 1977 and given that John was born in Clayton in 1777 and later died in Cumberworth in 1918 John has embarked upon a remarkable recovery to have played for us at all these last few years!
